Ogliastra is a historical region in central-eastern Sardinia, a territory mostly occupied by hills and mountains near the coast. The area is best known for its beautiful natural environment.

Tortolì

Tortolì is a the main town of Ogliastra, located near the eastern coast of Sardinia. Founded in ancient times, it was inhabited by the Phoenicians and the Romans and has always been a small regional center. Tortolì also includes the nearby port and seaside resort of Arbatax.

Red Rocks of Arbatax

The Red Rocks of Arbatax are a rock formation located on the coast of Arbatax, near the port. Because of their peculiar shape and red color, these rocks are a popular tourist attraction, and the main landmark in Arbatax.

Su Logu de S’Iscultura Museum

The Su Logu de S’Iscultura Museum (Museo Su Logu de S’Iscultura) is an open-air museum of contemporary art in Tortolì. The museum includes various sculptures scattered all around the town, but also features an area used for temporary exhibitions.

Nuraghe S’Ortali ‘e su Monti

The Nuraghe S’Ortali ‘e su Monti is an ancient nuraghe located just south of Tortolì. The structure was erected by the Nuragic civilization during the 2nd millennium BCE, and features a central tower surrounded by the ruins of other buildings.

Lanusei

Lanusei is a small town in Ogliastra, located at the foot of the mountains west of Tortolì. The town has been inhabited since ancient times, and features some historic sites.

Archaeological Park of Bosco Seleni

The Archaeological Park of Bosco Seleni (Parco Archeologico di Bosco Seleni) is an archaeological site located in the mountains near Lanusei. The site includes various ruins of buildings erected by the Nuragic civilization, including a nuraghe, a holy well, and some tombs, all located among a lush forest.

Ulassai

Ulassai is a small town located among the mountains of Ogliastra, south of Lanusei. The town is known for its natural sites, including a cave and a waterfall.

Su Marmuri Cave
