The Teramano is the Province of Teramo, in northern Abruzzo. This territory includes hills and mountains, and features various historic towns such as Teramo and Atri, but also some seaside resorts, most notably Giulianova.

Teramo
Teramo is a city located among the hills of northern Abruzzo. Founded by Italic peoples, it was later a flourishing Roman town with the name Interamnia Praetutia. In the Middle Ages it was ruled by the Byzantines and the Lombards, before becoming part of the Kingdom of Sicily and then the Kingdom of Naples, sharing its history with the rest of the region. Now the city features various historic landmarks.
Teramo Cathedral
The Teramo Cathedral (Duomo di Teramo) is the main church in the city, erected starting in the 12th century in Romanesque and Gothic style. The cathedral features a large Gothic portal on its facade, while inside it hosts several artworks, including an elaborate silver antependium and a polyptych, both from the 15th century. Adjacent to the church is a tall medieval bell tower.

Roman Theater of Teramo
The ruins of the Roman Theater (Teatro Romano) of Teramo, built around the age of Augustus, are located in the center of the city, near the cathedral. Next to the theater is also part of the walls of the ancient amphitheater. Both structures are partially covered by modern buildings.

Piazza Sant’Anna
Piazza Sant’Anna is a square in the center of Teramo, featuring some ancient landmarks. Here are the ruins of a Roman villa erected in the 1st century BCE, and the Church of Sant’Anna dei Pompetti, built in the 6th century. Behind this church is the Torre Bruciata (“Burned Tower”), a Roman fortification built in the 2nd century BCE and reworked in the Middle Ages. In 1156 the tower was damaged by a fire, hence its name. Nearby is the Domus of the Lion Mosaic (Domus del Mosaico del Leone), the ruins of another Roman house featuring elaborate mosaics, located under a modern building.

Francesco Savini Archaeological Museum
The Francesco Savini Archaeological Museum (Museo Archeologico Francesco Savini) is an archaeological museum in Teramo, which hosts several finds from the city and the surrounding area. The finds hosted here are dated between prehistory and the Middle Ages, and include a few Roman sculptures.

Civitella del Tronto
Civitella del Tronto is a small town located north of Teramo. Founded in ancient times, it was important in the Middle Ages and the modern period, due to its position at the border between the Kingdom of Naples and the Papal States.

The Fortress of Civitella del Tronto (Fortezza di Civitella del Tronto) is one of the largest forts in Italy, erected on a hill near the town in the 16th century over some previous structures. Damaged by various sieges, the fort has been restored, and now it houses a museum of historic weapons and maps. The complex includes several buildings and fortifications and, due to its position, it offers a great view on the surrounding hills.

Sanctuary of San Gabriele dell’Addolorata
The Sanctuary of San Gabriele dell’Addolorata (Santuario di San Gabriele dell’Addolorata) is a religious complex located near Isola del Gran Sasso d’Italia. The site features a modern sanctuary and an older church with a monumental facade and some historic artworks. The sanctuary is a site of pilgrimage and houses the remains of Saint Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows, who died here in 1862.

Atri
Atri is a town located on a hill in the Province of Teramo. Founded in ancient times, it was an important Roman city. The family of emperor Hadrian was originally from this town. After centuries of obscurity, Atri lived its golden age as the capital of a small duchy ruled by the Kingdom of Naples between the Late Middle Ages and the early modern period. Atri now features various historic attractions.

The Atri Cathedral (Duomo di Atri) is a 13th-century church built in Atri over a previous site of worship. The church is in Romanesque and Gothic style, and features a tall bell tower and an imposing facade adorned with a rose window and a decorated portal. Inside, it hosts various artworks, most notably a cycle of elaborate Reanissance frescoes by Andrea De Litio, regared as one of the greatest works of its kind in Abruzzo. Adjacent to the cathedral is the Chapter Museum of Atri (Museo Capitolare di Atri), which houses a rich collection of paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, and other artworks dating between the 13th and 20th century.

Giulianova
Giulianova is a town and seaside resort located along the Adriatic coast in the Province of Teramo. In ancient times it was a Roman town, and remained a local trade center until it was destroyed in 1460. The city was soon rebuilt as an ideal Renaissance town, and in the 20th century it developed as a seaside resort.
Giulianova Cathedral
The Giulianova Cathedral (Duomo di Giulianova) is the main church of the city, erected in the late 15th century when the town was rebuilt. The church, built in Renaissance style, has an octagonal plan and it is topped by a large dome.

Sanctuary of Madonna dello Splendore
The Sanctuary of Madonna dello Splendore (Santuario della Madonna dello Splendore) is a religious complex located north of the old town of Giulianova. Originally built as a monastery in the 16th century on the site of a Marian apparition, the complex was reworked and expanded in the 20th century. The sanctuary features some Baroque decorations and artworks, and also houses an art museum with works dating between the Late Middle Ages and today. The museum also often hosts temporary art exhibitions.

Giulianova Promenade
The seaside promenade of Giulianova runs for kilometers along the Adriatic coast. Built in the 1930s, the seafront features a few monuments and it is the center of local tourism, providing access to the beaches of the seaside resort.
