The valleys of western Trentino are collectively known as Valli Giudicarie, and include the upper courses of the rivers Sarca and Chiese. The Sarca river continues south reaching Lake Garda. This part of Trentino located around the northern tip of Lake Garda is called Alto Garda. The area of the Valli Giudicarie and Alto Garda includes several popular ski resorts and some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the Alps.

Rocca of Riva del Garda
The Rocca is a medieval fortress in Riva del Garda located on a tiny island on the shores of Lake Garda. It was built in the 12th century and expanded various times, and now it hosts the Museo Alto Garda. This museum houses an art gallery, a collection of local archaeological findings, and an exhibit on the history of Riva del Garda and the surrounding area.

Arco
Arco is a town in Trentino located just north of Riva del Garda, at the foot of a hill. A regionally relevant center since the Middle Ages thanks to its castle, it is still a destination for some tourists that want to explore the surrounding mountains and Lake Garda.
Arco Castle
The ruins of the Arco Castle are located on a hill dominating over the town. The fortress was probably built around the 11th century and was at that time one of the most prominent castles in the area. Abandoned for a long time, some areas have been restored, bringing to light ancient some frescoes. A great view of Arco and the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed from the top of the hill where the ruins are located.

Ledro

Museo delle Palafitte del Lago di Ledro
During the Bronze Age, the people that inhabited the area of Lago di Ledro lived on pile dwellings on the lake. Now a museum hosts a collection of prehistoric archaeological findings and reconstructions of the ancient houses.

Madonna di Campiglio is one of the most popular and renowned ski resorts in Italy, located at the northern end of Val Rendena. The town was founded in the 12th century, but it was just a small village until it started developing as a winter destination, turning into the main access point to the Brenta Dolomites in the 1950s.
